Smiling Jack O'Hurlihan

Of all the daring adventurers that sail the Shimmering Seas in search of adventure, there are few who can match Jack for style, flair, and downright audacity. Jack is a scoundrel who thinks of nothing but gold and glory, in exactly the reverse order. He has long blonde hair swept back in a pony tail, a gold earring, and a really big jaw (that's how you know he's actually a hero). Jack is a big bulky fellow with a barrel chest, small waist, and short legs. He wears a flared white shirt, dark blue pants, and tall black boots with gold buckles, but is nonetheless exceedingly manly.

Adventure is Jack's passion, and he'll take any risk and endure any hardship to acquire more gold and further grow his reputation. As the master of the Sunrunner, he leads a fearless band of likeminded ne'er-do-wells, who relish a good sea battle and the opportunity to dice with death as much as their swashbuckling captain. Chief among the crew is Jean "Le Monkey" Philippe, Jack's First Mate. JP is a French corsair "weeth an outraaageous accent!" He covers his bald head with a bandana and sports a large gold tooth, which does nothing to improve his pronunciation! He's a thin and agile fighter to Jack's burlier bully build, and his nimbleness has got the pair out of as many scrapes as Jack's more direct approach.

The Sunrunner itself is a fine vessel, and Jack's pride and joy. If there's one thing Jack hates more than missing out on a prize or failing to get the wench, it's seeing his ship take damage. Fortunately for Jack, she's a fast ship and well gunned for her size, so most enemies don't get much of a chance in a straight up fight. Unfortunately for Jack, his tendency to risk all for the big score means that he's rarely in a one-on-one fight! If the Sunrunner is outnumbered, she can take a fair amount of punishment, but even Jack knows it's sometimes better to run and live to fight another day. Unless of course you can amass a fleet of other corsairs, buccaneers, privateers, and even pirates to fight alongside you and even the odds some. This latter strategy is Jack's preferred approach, and he's constantly on the lookout for likely companions and captains of a similar mind. Most frequently at his side is the feisty Esmeralda, captain of the Manta and a trusty friend who has saved Jack's booty on countless occasions. As he sails the Shimmering Seas, Jack acquires numerous other friends and allies whom he can rely on in dire circumstances to sail alongside him and trade broadsides with whatever foe Jack's latest adventure has antagonized. Typically this is outraged merchants and jealous husbands paying pirates and bounty hunters to exact their revenge, but there are more fearsome things in the Shimmering Seas than pirates.

With great risk comes great reward and, as far as Jack is concerned, in the arena of rewards size matters! The lust for the biggest prizes, the most daring raids, and the loveliest wenches draws Jack into the most hazardous places in the Shimmering Seas and pits him against seemingly insurmountable challenges. From scrapes with the Royal Navy to run-ins with giant sea monsters to the never-ending waves of cursed zombie pirates, Jack plots a perilous course to adventure, fortune, and glory.
